Romans 5:1-2 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
To be justified by faith means we have accepted the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. We get it that we are sin filled, but that the shed blood of Jesus Christ paid for our sins. We have trusted in Christ alone as our personal Saviour.
With that justification Christ purchased for us, we also receive some other benefits. We have peace with God. Before we got saved, the Bible say we were at enmity with God. He was our enemy. New we have peace with Him instead! What an amazing truth.
Because of Christ, we have access by “this grace wherein we stand.” This is the grace of Jesus Christ. If we did not have it, we could not stand before God or man. Our grace is derived from Him and works in us because of Him. It is His grace that carries us through the difficult times we face in life. At the end of those times, we stand. Why? Grace!
So with justification comes peace, grace, and also joy. Our joy comes from that blessed hope – the promise we have in the Lord that we will be with Him for eternity. It is God who gets the glory for that. It is we who receive the joy. It is an amazing balance, but that should not surprise me because God is an amazing God.
I know this is the short list. Entire books have been written on the blessing of being a child of God. I was reading my Bible today and these three great benefits of accepting Christ just jumped off the page. I thought they were worth sharing!
